The Tarter family's Barnegat Light home on Long Beach Island wanted an outdoor structure built for the Jersey Shore reality: sun-baked summer afternoons, sudden afternoon thunderstorms, salt air year-round, and the occasional nor'easter. The LBI brief called for a fully motorized louvered roof, marine-grade hardware, and a structural design rated for coastal wind exposure.
We installed a custom Azenco R-Blade™ motorized louvered roof system, engineered specifically for the Barnegat Light coastal site. The aluminum R-Blade louvers rotate 90 degrees at the touch of a button so the family can swap between full sun, partial shade, or sealed weather protection in seconds — and an integrated rain sensor automatically closes the louvers when storms move in off the Atlantic. The structure is rated to a 165 mph wind load, well above LBI's coastal exposure category.
